Spectacles And Beauty

Hundreds of thousands of people wear spectacles to correct their vision, some of them from a young age. However, there is no reason to wear ugly or unstylish glasses. There are plenty of extremely fashionable spectacles available for purchase today in every shape, size and color. If you have bad eyesight and need to correct your vision, do not bemoan the fact that you might need to wear glasses – consider them just another beauty accessory. Spectacles can be so stylish and distinctive that some people even wear them just to look good, and not because they actually need them.

For example, some celebrities and well known people wear glasses even though they do not need them. The US Senator Barry Goldwater continued wearing his trademark horn rimmed glasses after getting contact lenses because no one could recognize him without them. Drew Carey, a comedian, continued wearing spectacles after receiving corrective eye surgery for the same reason. Groucho Marx wore glasses as part of his costume, and was not easily recognized without them.

Some people use their glasses to make distinctive fashion statements. Elton John is known for wearing outrageous spectacles as part of his flamboyant persona. Dame Edna Everage, a character played by comedian Barry Humphries, is known for wearing colorful cat eye glasses.

But sometimes the truth is that some people just look fantastic in spectacles. With the arrival of contact lenses and laser eye surgery, people do not need to wear glasses, yet they continue to do so. Many celebrities and fashion icons still wear spectacles, and set the current trends in eyeglass wear for everyone else.
